At Precision Web Crafting, we get lots of questions from our clients on whether they can use WordPress to build a regular website? That is, a website without the look and feel of a traditional blog site.
The answer is yes!
Your website does not have to include a blog or have the blog feel when it’s created with WordPress. In fact, it can be fully customized to match your brand and style. And because WordPress is a content management system, you can make updates yourself, even if you don’t know HTML. Another benefit to using WordPress is that you can utilize many of its plugins within your regular site, saving you time and money in the long run.
What if you want to build a portion of your regular website using WordPress and another portion without WordPress? Is that possible?
The answer to that is yes as well. One way we approach this for our clients is to install WordPress in a separate folder, different from the non-WordPress site.
If you decide to customize your WordPress site, it’s a good idea to use a child theme to retain your customizations during an update. It’s also a good idea to keep your plugins and theme up-to-date for security purposes.
